New York University

Adjunct Faculty (Spring 2021). Designed and taught a 14-week asynchronous online course focusing on translation as a form of creative writing, with an emphasis on craft, the state of the profession, and publishing.

New Jersey Institute of Technology

Adjunct Faculty (Fall 2018). Designed and taught open-access syllabus for two sections of “Writing, Speaking, Thinking” for engineering and architectural first-years—c. 60 students, many of whom were not native English speakers. Course focused on recognizing and successfully employing rhetorical devices, writing for different audiences, analyzing and understanding genre, and taking creative approaches to academic writing.

Orðskjálfti (Iceland)

Invited Speaker; Translator (July 2021). Orðskjálfti is an organization that sponsors writing workshops for young people. During summer 2021, five young, Icelandic poetry lovers were invited to curate a selection of 25 Icelandic poems published during the previous year and have them translated into English for an anthology (forthcoming November 2021). I was invited to translate a selection of the Icelandic poems as well as co-facillitate a workshop for young editors and answer their questions about the translation process.

Ós Pressan (Iceland)

Facilitator (2018 - present). Designed and taught two, non-language-specific translation workshops (a one-day session and a two-hour session) for multilingual adults and teens. Focus on creative strategies and collaboration. Workshops received grant funding from the city of Akureyri’s Culture Fund, the Reykjavík City Library, and W.O.M.E.N, the association of women of foreign origin in Iceland.

Oxford (UK)

Invited Speaker (Spring 2021). Invited to co-facilitate a session of an undergraduate Chinese seminar focusing on literary translation. Answered student questions about the process of translation, offered solutions to challenges encountered while translating, and provided feedback on in-progress translations.

Princeton

Lecturer (Fall 2020). Designed and taught a six-week literary translation workshop for undergraduates in Creative Writing. Hosted a series of ‘Translate-Along’ sessions during which students could receive feedback on works-in- progress and mentorship; organized student reading to showcase new translation work.

Lecturer (Wintersession 2021). Led a two-day wintersession literary translation workshop for Princeton students.

University of Washington

Guest Lecturer (Spring 2021). Invited to lead two sessions of a graduate seminar in the Scandinavian Studies Department, with a focus on the process of translating A Fist or a Heart, authorial collaboration, and tips for professionalization in a Nordic context.
